Non-Magmatic Glasses

چکیده
OVERVIEW On Earth, natural glasses are typically produced by rapid cooling of melts, and as in the case minerals rocks, can provide key information on evolution Earth. However, products not solely terrestrial, different formation mechanisms give rise to a variety amorphous materials. In this chapter, we an overview non-magmatic origin their mechanisms. We focus formed other than magmatic activity included metamorphic from highly energetic events (shock metamorphism). The study these materials has strong repercussions planetary surface processes, paleogeography/paleoecology, even life.

Non-perturbative effects in spin glasses
We present a numerical study of an Ising spin glass with hierarchical interactions--the hierarchical Edwards-Anderson model with an external magnetic field (HEA). We study the model with Monte Carlo (MC) simulations in the mean-field (MF) and non-mean-field (NMF) regions corresponding to d ≥ 4 and d < 4 for the d-dimensional ferromagnetic Ising model respectively. We compare the MC results with...

متن کاملRhenium and chalcophile elements in basaltic glasses from Ko’olau and Moloka’i volcanoes: Magmatic outgassing and composition of the Hawaiian plume
The behavior of chalcophile metals in volcanic environments is important for a variety of economic and environmental applications, and for understanding large-scale processes such as crustal recycling into the mantle. In order to better define the behavior of chalcophile metals in ocean island volcanoes, we measured the concentrations of Re, Cd, Bi, Cu, Pb, Zn, Pt, S, and a suite of major eleme...
متن کاملMagmatic Processes : Physicochemical Principles
The viscosities of eight melt compositions in the System albite-H20-F20_1 have been determined at high pressure and temperature. Measurements were performed using the falling sphere method at 1000-1600°C and 2.5 to 22.5 kbar. Fluorine and water strongly decrease the viscosity of albite melt at all pressures and temperatures investigated. The viscosity of a fluorine-bearing albitic melt decrease...
